In Europe approved new rules of entry to the Schengen area

The new system will start operating in 2021.

The European Parliament approved the creation of a new European system of authorization and information on travel (ETIAS) for travel to the Schengen area. This is stated in the message on the website of the European Parliament.

“Citizens of countries which are not EU members, are exempt from visa requirements must obtain a permit before travelling to the EU under the new rules, backed by Parliament on Thursday,” the message reads.

The new system, which will start in 2021, will provide additional validation of the visa-free travelers, and individuals that may be dangerous, illegal migrants, or individuals with epidemic risk.

Citizens in more than 60 countries and territories exempt from visa requirements for entry into the EU, including Ukraine, should fill out the electronic form in advance of travel and provide personal information (including name, date and place of birth, gender and nationality), information about the travel document (validity, issuing country), home address, and contact information, and you can specify the European country with the first entry.

Authorization for travel cost 7 Euro – free for travellers under the age of 18 years and persons older than 70 years. It will be valid for three years or until the expiry of the travel document.

The applicant will also be required to report any convictions for serious criminal offences (such as terrorism, sexual exploitation of children, trafficking, drugs, murder and rape), stay in specific zones of war or conflict and any previous administrative decisions, which include leaving the country in the last 10 years.

In the case of terrorist offences, the duration will be extended to the previous 20 years, and additional clarification of the date and country of conviction.

Each application is automatically checked in all the relevant databases to determine, in particular, was not used lost or stolen travel document, and or a warrant for the arrest of a person. The vast majority of applicants will receive an authorization almost immediately.

If the test is a positive answer to any question about criminal matters, travel to conflict zones and the order to leave the country, the data will be checked manually and will be assessed a security risk, migration, or epidemics.
