In the tomb were ceramic vessels, terracotta statuettes, and clay lamps
In Egypt in the town of El Shatbi near the ancient capital of Alexandria, archaeologists have discovered the tomb, presumably, an ally of Alexander the great.
The discovery was made by a mission organized by the Ministry of Affairs of antiquities of Egypt. She found the ancient rock tombs, whose age is not definitely determined. Scientists believe that it was constructed between 323 and 30 BC
The tomb consists of four spacious rooms with the burial chambers. They are decorated with bas-reliefs and inscriptions in ancient Greek, probably of ritual texts.
The tomb was found some 300 artifacts, said the head of the Ministry of Affairs of antiquities in the region of West Delta Mustafa Rushdie.
According to him, discovered ceramic vessels, terracotta statuettes, and earthenware lamps.
Excavations will continue in the new archaeological season, which starts in September. Meanwhile, scientists are trying to decipher the texts. This will help to ascertain the identity of who was buried in the tomb.
Earlier it was reported that archaeologists have discovered in the historical region of Upper Egypt the ancient Egyptian city cemetery, created by experts, in the year 5316 BC.
