In China, the robot dentist performed a unique operation

The robot performed the implantation.

The engineers managed to create a dental robot, which recently conducted the first successful operation.

The software for the robot and the “dentist” did four years of development took place exclusively in China by the forces of the dental hospital of the Fourth military medical University and the Institute of robotics.

The robot successfully performed its first implantation of two teeth, printed on a 3D printer. Hour operation took place under local anesthesia. The first patient robot is a resident of the city XI’an.

Of course, do without the person does in this operation is not possible: before the experts have programmed the angle and depth of movement to the implants arose in the jaw as accurately as possible. The machine self-adjust their work, when the patient moved.

The operation was carried out with an accuracy of 0.2-0.3 millimeters, which is consistent with the standards. Engineers and physicians say that the robot can do the job even more efficiently than professional dentists. Robot novelty will allow to avoid human errors in operations: sometimes dentists are hard to see in some areas of the mouth.
