Found artifacts which date back to the XII-XV century.
In Chernihiv archaeologists completed the first stage of excavations on the territory of the Shaft (the most ancient part of the city). So, they found household buildings, household items and decorations of the period of the XII-XV century.
About this on his page in Facebook said the head of the excavation and the teacher of the Chernihiv pedagogical Institute. Shevchenko Elena Chernenko.
According to her, the work lasted more than three weeks. The fragments of Byzantine glass painting, porcelain plates, bracelets of glass, knives, weights loom, and the remains of the lime kiln are of great archaeological value.
“The most interesting object, unfortunately, poorly preserved, oven for burning lime (not to be confused with the lime pit). Similar production facility in Chernigov discovered for the first time. For Ancient Russia in General there are only a few such buildings”, – said Elena Chernenko.
She added that Adobe oven was used for quite some time and been repaired at least 8 times.
In addition, among the finds is a note from the past on the wall of an amphora (graffiti) and spring scissors.
Archaeologists say that such things in ancient times could use only wealthy people, as their cost was very high.
