More than 100 thousand residents took to the streets to protect their own rights and freedoms.
About 300 thousand people went out on 3 October to protest against violence by the police against participants of the referendum on the independence of Catalonia.
The protesters demanded from the Spanish militiamen to leave Catalonia. 1 October, the authorities of the Spanish region of Catalonia has tried to hold a referendum on independence. Many local residents went to the polls, most of which were blocked by forces of law and order.
In clashes with police injured 844 people. The government of Catalonia declared 90,09% of voters voted for secession from Spain. The Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy said that the authorities categorically do not recognize the referendum. He was supported by the king of Spain Felipe YI.
