A referendum on independence of Catalonia from Spain kicked off on Sunday at 9:00 local time (10:00 Kyiv), reads a message posted in “Twitter” on the page of the authorities of the Spanish Autonomous community.
Some of the plots had previously been closed by the decision of the Central government of Spain. In addition, the local media reported that at some sites in Barcelona, the police are trying to prevent the vote. Earlier, Spain’s constitutional court decided on the unconstitutionality of the referendum.
The referendum will have to answer the question: “do You Want to Catalonia became an independent state with a Republican form of government?”
