Found a unique artifact – the jade amulet.
This summer Bulgarian archaeologists during excavations on the Cape of Kaliakra struck a rich necropolis of the XIV century.
And the most unique find, dated to the same period, white jade amulet, rectangular in shape, which according to scientists was made in China during the yuan dynasty and was used as an ordinary buckle.
According to the excavation Director Assoc. Dr. Boni Petrunova, amulet, most likely, arrived in the Bulgarian lands during the next invasion of the Golden Horde in Eastern lands, and was the gift of one of the rulers of the despotate of Dobrudzha.
The jade amulet is considered to be Imperial, it is very popular in Eastern countries and it is believed that it has healing power. The amulet depicts the scene of a hunting Falcon on a wild goose amongst Lotus flowers. The alleged connection with the Golden Horde is based on an image and selecting material that brings success and prosperity.
Assoc. Petrunova stressed that asset will become part of the exhibition of the Historical Museum of Kavarna. According to her, the price of this amulet at major auctions ranges from 20 000 to 40 000 euros.
