Scientists from Cambridge University have created a surgical robot that will perform operations on the patient’s eyes.
Relevant information published in the scientific journal New Scientist.
The robot has turned a miniature: the diameter of the tentacles is 1.8 mm. Device called bot Axsis. The thickness of the tentacles will ensure the most accurate operation. The surgeon will be enough to press buttons on the controller and to direct the robot through the display.
Scientists have created complex software, thanks to which Axsis will anticipate human errors during complex operations.
The “hand” of the robot are ultra-thin “tendon”, consisting of polyethylene threads developed by NASA. The device is not inferior in strength to steel. The control unit Axsis also turned out miniature.
