In Azerbaijan have accused Russia of occupation

Part of Azerbaijan’s territory is under Russian occupation. This statement was made by the Deputy of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Gudrat Hasanguliyev, writes “” with reference to local media.

“Our land is occupied by Russia,” said Hasanguliyev at the first plenary meeting of the autumn session of Parliament. The Deputy has suggested colleagues to prepare a draft law on occupied territories.

According to him, in the uncontrolled territories of Baku exploited the natural wealth. “A growing number of companies operating in the occupied territories. I think it is necessary to prepare a bill on those territories. After that, these companies will have to act in accordance with the law”, — said the MP.

“It is often said that Azerbaijan is unable to cope with Armenia. No matter how much we increased its military potential, we will not be able to liberate our lands, while Russia is providing military support to Armenia. Military cooperation of these countries may cause loss of new territories”, — said Hasanguliyev.

At the moment, Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts — 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory — are under the control of the Armed forces of Armenia and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

Populated mostly by ethnic Armenians, Nagorno-Karabakh declared independence from Azerbaijan in 1991. Baku tried to regain control over the region by force, but failed. In 1994, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh signed with the mediation of Russia, the Bishkek Protocol on ceasefire. In resolving the conflict involved the OSCE Minsk group, which, in addition to Armenian and Azerbaijani representatives, includes Moscow, Washington and Paris.
