The scandal is gaining momentum.
In Austria representatives of the green party was interested in funding 217 “Russian centers” established by Vladimir Putin.
So, the question raised by the speaker on science of the party “green” Sigrid Maurer. The centers are functioning at the universities of Innsbruck and Salzburg.
To them, the Austrian politician drew the investigation, which was conducted by the activist of “green” and “Alternative training” Marita Hastier, who recently completed a course of foreign study in Vilnius. As well as in the whole 217 Russian centers around the world, those that operate in Salzburg and Innsbruch, was founded by the Fund “Russian World”.
“Russian center Innsbruc opened in 2011, the center at the University of Salzburg in 2015, that is, during the Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine, while the European Union has already introduced sanctions against Russia”, – said Maurer.
In addition, there were attempts to establish such a center at the University of Vienna, but the local Institute of Slavic studies, according to Hastier, protested against it.
On the websites of the centers says that they were created in order to familiarize the Austrians with Russian language and culture.
The Fund “Russian World” that is behind all this, was founded in 2007 by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the Director of the center, members of the Supervisory Board and the Board members were appointed by Putin personally.
Also, the Fund “Russian World” was composed of many persons connected with the Kremlin – for example, foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
According to Maurer, the goal set before the Foundation, it is highly problematic, as they are based on the worldview of the “new Russia”, which requires the territory of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. The Foundation also promotes the implementation of “Imperial fantasies of Russia with a powerful anti-Western picture of the world”.
