Prime Minister predicts an increase in gas production for the year to 600-700 million cubic meters.
The policy of increasing domestic production of gas will allow this year to increase production of 600-700 million cubic meters, and in 2020 to reach full energy independence of Ukraine and to reduce gas prices, said Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.
“Last year I announced a policy of substitution of imported gas to Ukrainian. We have set the goal of the state company “Ukrgazdobycha” to increase gas production. We stopped the decline, and moved on to the production build-up. When we become a state that can completely provide itself with gas, and it will be in 2020, we will move on to the next formation of gas prices. And it will be cheaper than the imported ones – not for a month or two, and once and for all” – quoted Groysman on the government website.
Recall that in 2016 Ukraine imported 10.9 billion cubic meters of gas. This is by 33.7%, or 5.5 billion cubic meters less than in 2016. For the purchase of gas, Ukraine has spent $ 2.2 billion.
Gas production in Ukraine in 2016 increased by 1.5% from 19.9 billion to 20.2 billion cubic meters.
In 2016, natural gas consumption in Ukraine decreased by 2% or 0.6 billion cubic meters. m (up 33.2 to 33.8 billion cubic meters).
