Immigrants are forced to return home on the uncontrolled territory

Winter and lack of jobs drive the settlers back home

With the onset of cold weather, many IDPs from Donbas, including the elderly, began to return to their homes in ORDA due to the lack of work and money for rental housing on vacant land.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the International organization for migration (IOM), the UN.

So, 70% of respondents reported that returning to their homes in the occupied areas of Donbass, where as they do not need to pay for rent.

“More than half of the internally displaced persons who return to ORDO older than 60 years, the majority of them – pensioners”, – is spoken in the message of the United Nations.

IOM stressed that this increases their vulnerability, because pensions depend on their migrant status and residence on the territory controlled by Kiev.

Almost two thirds of respondents said that their income is enough only for food. The average monthly income of migrant militants in the occupied areas is around 87 dollars.

The share of IDPs who have returned to IDLO a permanent place of residence was 16%.

The survey was conducted in September by the methods of personal interview and telephone conversation. In-person interviews participated 1025 immigrants. The method of telephone conversation throughout Ukraine were surveyed more than 4 thousand people.

Earlier it was reported that in Ukraine 32% of IDPs intend to return to the previous place of residence after the end of the conflict, according to a study by the International organization for migration, UN.

According to the study, 29% do not intend to return, and 17% admit that their return in the future, 1% – in the near future, and 21% were undecided. 54% of immigrants visited places from which they left.
