The developers of the search engine has decided to abandon the feature, Google Instant, which guessed queries according to the first letters.
This is because users in recent years often use Google with mobile devices.
Google Instant was launched in 2010 under the leadership of Marissa Mayer. Mayer then called the change “a fundamental shift in search”. Google has decided to do away with this feature after more than 50% of all Google search queries began to come from mobile devices.
“We launched Google Instant in 2010 with the aim to provide users with the information they need as quickly as possible. Since many of our queries happen on a mobile phone, with a very different interaction options and the limitations of the screen. With this in mind, we decided to remove Google Instant, so we can focus on ways to make search faster on all devices,” said a Google spokesperson.
After the abolition of such a function, the search results will be loaded only after user clicks the corresponding button, i.e. the user typing in a search query will not show the search results.
