I have seen the future people in the early twentieth century. Photo

Some of the predictions came true.

Very often, reviewing fiction movies about the future, the audience wonder whether the fictional story to become a reality. In the late nineteenth century people have asked the same question, imagining what life would be like in 100 years. In 1900, the French artist Jean-Marc côté presented a series of liners for cigarettes with a vivid conception of life in 2000. One guesses today cause a smile, others came true in reality.

The flying ships.

Illustrations of “predictions” from the French artist was presented in 1900 in the form of liners for cigarettes at the world exhibition in Paris. Pictures did not become available to the General public, as Jean-Marc côté did not have enough money for their “promotion”. After many years American science fiction writer Isaac Asimov accidentally discovered a set of cards and in 1986 published them under the title “Days of future: how the nineteenth century saw the 2000th year.”

Aerotaxi.

The flying postman.

Flying firefighters.

On the cards you can see images of aircraft Parking right on the balcony, firefighters with wings, divers riding the sea horse.

Divers riding the sea horse.

Machine harvest.

In 1900, the author of illustrations is believed that robots will make life easier for people. So, on some cards you can see how the machine helps the farmer in harvesting, sewing for tailor costumes or maid doing the cleaning in the house. It is worth noting that these conjectures were correct. Without robots, and devices-machines do today, it is difficult to imagine life.

“Slice and dice” knowledge.

The machine that she sews clothes.
