Russian President Vladimir Putin surprised by the statements of NATO that the Alliance wants to improve relations with Russia, and they themselves are increasing their military capability. He said this in an interview with Le Figaro.

The Russian leader said that the statements by Russia and the actions of the Alliance in Europe are contradictory.

“At the NATO summit, said that NATO wants to establish good relations with Russia. Why increase military spending? Against whom was going to fight? There are some internal contradictions”, − said Putin.

The Russian leader added that the internal Affairs of the Alliance itself.

“Let NATO versed, to whom, for what and how much to pay, we are not very concerned about it. We provide their defense, and we do it reliably, with the future in mind, we are confident,” added the Russian President.

As was stated by the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the recent summit of the Alliance, the position of the organization on strengthening of defence is a response to Russia’s actions.

“What NATO is doing, is balanced, is defensive in nature and is a proportionate response to Russia’s actions,” — said the NATO Secretary General on the question of whether the increase in the defence budgets of the NATO countries to a new arms race.

Also US President Donald trump said that NATO should focus on terrorism and on the threats from Russia on the Eastern and southern borders of the Alliance.

In turn, Ukraine gave NATO the report on the relations of Russia with international terrorism. According to the representative of Ukraine to the NATO parliamentary Assembly, Russia is waging a hybrid war not only against Ukraine but also against the countries-members of the Alliance.
