Already more than 42 thousand Ukrainian soldiers took part in peacekeeping missions.
During the years of independence in peacekeeping missions abroad overall participation of more than 42 thousand Ukrainian soldiers.
This is stated in the congratulation of Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman on the Day of peacekeepers on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“Our state since the first years of independence takes an active part in the programmes of the United Nations peacekeeping, public security, law and order in many troubled regions of the world, providing assistance to the civilian population during armed conflicts. Being exposed to mortal danger, the Ukrainian soldiers with dignity fulfil humane mission of protecting human life from violence and suffering,” the message reads.
According to the head of the government, in the implementation of peacekeeping operations, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and officers gained combat experience, and the experience to protect the civilian population and its space of life.
“Over the years of independence more than 42 thousand of our soldiers have participated in peacekeeping missions than have gained a high reputation in the international community. More than a quarter century Ukraine and its peacekeeping forces to demonstrate your commitment to the cause of peace and order on our planet”, – said Groisman.
He also emphasized that today, during the Russian aggression in Ukraine, it is extremely important consolidation of the international community and the implementation of a strengthened peacekeeping mission to separate the temporarily uncontrolled areas of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
