The state border service of Ukraine urged the traveller is not to use the checkpoint “Krakovets” on September 9-12, because of possible mass actions. A statement published on the Agency’s website.
“Please note: due to the possible holding of mass gatherings near the checkpoint “Krakovets” for 9-12 September, the State border guard service of Ukraine recommends to choose other routes to avoid any inconvenience,” the message reads.
The Department reminded those planning to participate in the mass actions of September 10 near the checkpoint that there is a boundary regime, and called for the respect of legal regulations and rules.
The ex-President of Georgia, former head of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili, who, while in the United States, lost Ukrainian citizenship, said he will return to Ukraine on 10 September through the checkpoint “Krakovets”.
The politician said that he hoped the honesty of Ukrainian citizens, who will not allow his extradition to Georgia, if he returns to Ukraine. According to Saakashvili, he is ready to defend Ukrainian citizenship in court and would not seek asylum in the United States.
In the state border service said that Ukrainian border, Saakashvili will withdraw the passport of the citizen of Ukraine, and he will not be allowed into the country.
