Google received a record fine in Europe
The European Commission has imposed on the American company Google a fine of $2,42 billion for abuse of dominant market position in search engines.
The size of this fine is the largest ever in the case of abuse of monopoly position on the IT market.
In the report of the European Commission it is noted that the results of search through the search engine Google was distorted in favor of its own service Google Shopping. To increase the number of customers of its services, the ratings of competing projects was significantly underestimated, with the result that their proposals were not given on the first page of the search.
The European Commission has given Google Inc., holding company Google, 90 days to end its “illegal actions”. If the company does not fulfill the requirements of the EC, it may be fined in an amount equivalent to 5% of the average daily turnover of the Alphabet, the statement of the regulator.
