Google has paid an administrative fine in the amount of 438 million ($6.75 million) imposed for the violation of the Antimonopoly legislation.
Reported by the Federal Antimonopoly service of Russia (FAS).
In February 2015 the Russian company “Yandex” has filed a complaint against Google, accusing it of abuse of a dominant position on the market of pre-installed applications in the Android operating system.
14 September 2015, the FAS found Google violated the law on protection of competition on the appeal of the Russian company “Yandex”. Google has asked a Moscow court, but he rejected the claim.
In March 2016 the head of FAS Russia Igor Artemyev said that Google behaves aggressively, promising to penalize Google every two weeks, if the company will delay the enforcement of the regulations of the Department.
In April 2017 the FAS and Google entered into a settlement agreement whereby the company agreed to pay a fine and abandon exclusive PE of his apps on Android mobile devices.
The settlement agreement provides that Google will develop a new widget Chrome, which will allow you to see when you first start a new widget “window of choice”, which you can use to set as the default search engine to Google or Yandex.
