Google introduced the platform SDK augmented reality ARCore.
Presented SDK is a set of tools for developers allows you to use the technology in applications.
According to Google, the platform will be compatible with both new devices and existing flagships (for example, the Google Pixel and the Samsung Galaxy S8 with Android version 7.0 and above). Google expects that soon the coverage of the platform by adding new smartphones will be able to expand to 100 million devices.
ARCore determines the exact location of the device in the surrounding space, using the data from the camera, the accelerometer and the gyroscope.
The system recognizes a horizontal surface and allows you to “snap” to them the position of virtual objects. This is important because in the games and apps that use AR objects are usually located on the floor or table. ARCore takes into account lighting and allows developers to realistically illuminate objects or to create shadows in their applications.
