To get inside an active volcano, Geoff Mackley and Chris HORSLEY came down to 400 meters into the marum crater with Street View tracker behind and took 360 degree panoramic shots his way down to the lake of molten lava the size of two football fields.

“It’s a phenomenal feeling when you’re standing on the edge of the crater and feeling the heat on my skin. I hope that after seeing this place on the map, people will understand how amazing the world where we live,” said Chris HORSLEY after returning from his trip to the crater.

On the island of Ambrym near the volcanoes are home to over seven thousand people. The leader of the local village, named Moses, was told that his people believe the spirits of the volcanoes.

“We believe that Benbo a man and Marum is a wife. Sometimes, when they disagree with each other, erupts. This means that the spirit is angry, and then we sacrifice a pig or something else into the volcano”, – said the leader.

According to Moses, Street View will allow Vanuatu to become more popular in the world, and this will be an important step in rebuilding after the effects of cyclone pam, which occurred a few years ago.

Add that Vanuatu is an archipelago of 80 tiny Islands covered with green jungle, pristine beaches with black sand and with nine active volcanoes.
