Good signal: found a way to control Wi-Fi at home

Scientists figured out how to increase the speed of Wi-Fi signal without an expensive antenna.

Researchers from Gemutslage College (USA) figured out how to control the strength and speed of Wi-Fi signal in the room with several rooms.

As scholars have noted, now the problem can be solved by using a directional Wi-Fi antenna, however, such devices are expensive and difficult to operate. Therefore, the researchers set a task to develop a device that you can do with your hands.

The study notes that amplify the signal in one direction can be put behind a router aluminum plate, for example cut cans of soda. To upgrade such a reflector, the scientists wrote a computer algorithm to take into account the parameters of the room, the location of access points Wi-Fi and the desired direction of the signal. Based on these settings, the technology for half an hour calculates the optimum shape for the reflector, which is printed on a 3D printer.

“Wireless reflector, created with the custom settings, will cost about $ 35. The device will be able to displace the antenna cost thousands of dollars,” said the Dartmouth College Professor Xia Zhu.
