Legendary marathon runner ed Whitlock, the champion of many competitions for seniors, has died at the age of 86.
Whitlock died at the Toronto General hospital a week after his 86th birthday.
The cause of death runner was prostate cancer.
Canadian runner owns a number of world records at distances from 1500 m to marathon in the age group “70 and over”.
In 2003 in Toronto Whitlock at age 72 became the first athlete in this age group (70-74 years), who has run a marathon in under three hours. The result was 2 hours 59 minutes 10 seconds.
