A loud fight at Middleweight between WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO Gennady Golovkin and Alvarez Saulem ended in a draw.
Golovkin on the rights of the champion throughout the 12 rounds were dominating, Alvarez worked on the counter, trying to catch a Kazakh counter-strike. Mexican remember about the dynamite in the fists of the opponent, and therefore chose to ignore him unfavorable exchanges.
In the first half of the fight Golovkin was leading on the cards of two of the three judges, but after the halfway point, Alvarez stepped up and became much more likely to throw dangerous punches. Golovkin is still going forward, but Alvarez on the counter to be more effective.
The results of the referee notes seemed ambiguous. Golovkin inflicted on 49 blows more, but only one referee preference given to him (115:113). Another judge saw a strange dominance Alvarez (118:110), and the third gave a draw (114:114), allowing Golovkin to maintain the status of world champion on the average weight.
Immediately after the fight, Gennady Golovkin and Saul Alvarez agreed to a rematch. It is expected that the re-meeting of two top boxers of our time will take place in early 2018.
