Novelty could be the AWD system.
According to foreign automotive publications that refer to its own reliable sources in the U.S. GM currently, the official representatives of the brand carried out the registration of the new trademark.
The patent application was filed on 20 September 2018. It is reported that the novelty can become all-wheel drive system – well, judge for yourself, it is now a “Control AWD Sport”, which can be translated as “sports monitoring system of a full drive”.
It is known that the new trademark Control AWD Sport includes a “four-Wheel drive system and electronic stability control for vehicles; steering system for vehicles; traction control systems for vehicles; suspension systems for vehicles; braking systems for vehicles and apparatus for transportation by land, air or water”.
I must say that even though Control AWD Sport sounds a bit strange, it might not be nothing but a rebranding of an existing system. As representatives of GM, Sport Sport AWD will be similar to the Super-Handling AWD, which is used for cars Honda/Acura.
Note that a similar updating of existing systems is not something unusual, especially for automakers premium. For example, the Bavarian brand BMW has its all-wheel drive system xDrive, Audi has Quattro and Mercedes 4Matic. Here is General Motors (GM) was apparently also decided to issue their own, branded all-wheel drive system.
Unfortunately, at the moment we have no more information about American novelty.
Maybe the name Sport AWD Control is intended to denote something new, and maybe GM just decided to officially register its current system.
