Emissions of greenhouse gases will remain at the same level.
The inhabitants of the Earth will notice the effects of global warming in 2040. To such conclusion came in the intergovernmental panel on climate change.
According to a report published on the official website of the organization, if the level of greenhouse gas emissions remain at the same level, which is now already in 22 years the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere will be above a half a degree, which will lead to the extinction of coral reefs and more frequent droughts, crop failures and forest fires.
Experts of the IPCC called for the “rapid, long-term and unprecedented” changes, otherwise the total damage from global climate change may reach 54 trillion dollars.
The intergovernmental panel on climate change was established in 1988 by the UN environment programme and the world meteorological organization. In 2007, IPCC was awarded the Nobel peace prize for the study of the effects of global warming and the development of actions to prevent it.
