Summing up the results of the fourth stage of the 100th version of the three-week Cycling race Giro d’italia.
After the first day of the rest of the participants of the race waited for the 181-kilometer stage with summit finish of the first category of Etna with a maximum gradient of 12%. The fourth stage was the first mountain test for generalisimo that are expected do not become seriously active.
For the second time in the career stage of the Giro took the Slovenian Ian Polanc, who had qualified in the lead, and on the last climb of the day went on a solo attack. At the end of the 5-hour test Palanca almost flooring the captain of Katusha’s Ilnur Zakarin, the Russians have kept more forces, but too late rushed to the attack.
Pink Jersey leader of the General classification remained in the Belgian team “Quick-Step Floors”. New owner of a leading apparel became Bob Jungels, who last year was leading the Giro with 10 to 12 stages.
