Summing up the results of the eighth stage of the 100th version of the three-week Cycling race Giro d’italia.
The start of the eighth stage was chaotic – the main group kept a high speed and for a long time refused to let go of the lead. In the end, the forward drove a group of 16 people, led by Luis Leon Sanchez. The big advantages of the front formation to put together could not, and because of the peloton continued attempts to attack with the aim to join the fugitives.
After the mountain the second category there is another group of pursuers. Over 68 kilometers from the finish of the second stage separation to get a group of Sanchez. Have not played in favor of the fugitives, so it is a virtual leadership Valerio Conti, the presence of which in isolation had a huge impact on his prospects.
In the end, the most persistent in isolation was Konti, Sanchez, Izaguirre and Biscoti. A few kilometers before the finish line Conti on the turn fell and lost any hope for a stage victory. Tomorrow Giro inevitable changes in the General classification. The participants of the race before the day of rest will overcome the most difficult mountain stage with summit finish of the first category Blockhouse. Expected to be the first serious showdown between the captains at the head of Nair Quintana and Vincenzo nibali.
