Summing up the results of the twelfth stage of the hundredth version of the legendary Italian Cycling.
In the day’s break of 12 stage wins Mirco Maestri, Marco Marcato and Sergey Firsanov. This trio quickly pulled away from the main group on seven minutes, but over 100 km to go the peloton increased speed and without problems overtook the fugitives. Last to his fate resigned Maestri, resigned to his fate for a few kilometers before the finish.
And then there was the classic sprint to Fernando Gaviria of the “Quick-Step Floors,” took his third stage at the Giro and has strengthened the leadership in the points category.
