The results of the constitutional referendum indicate a deep split in Turkish society, said the German government.
The German government has urged Turkey to overcome the split in society, which is confirmed by the results of the constitutional referendum, which provides for significantly expands the powers of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The document also expressed hope “for a speedy start of political negotiations with Turkey on a bilateral level between individual European institutions and Turkey.”
