Gerashchenko sharply reacted to the arrest of Zhadan in Belarus

The Embassy and the foreign Ministry of Ukraine has started to prepare a note of protest.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus and the Ministry of foreign Affairs (MFA) of Ukraine has started to prepare a note of protest in connection with the detention in Minsk of the writer Sergei Zhadan.

About this on his page in Facebook said the Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Irina Gerashchenko.

“Just spoke with a representative of our Embassy in Belarus Valery, Djigunovic. He confirmed that Sergei Zhadan was detained in Minsk that he spent the night in the Leninsky district police Department in Minsk. The Embassy only found out about it because, unfortunately, the family had not appealed to him before, and Belarus did not provide information on detention of the citizen of Ukraine, which, of course, is a violation,” wrote Gerashchenko.

According to her, the foreign Ministry gave instructions to the Embassy staff accompanied the poet to the airport and before crossing the border.

“The Embassy and the foreign Ministry of Ukraine has already prepared a note about this. It’s really a shame, and it is time to firmly put the question to Minsk on the inadmissibility of actions of the FSB in this shameful way, which, through the formation of a joint “black lists” is trying to worsen with Belarus and our bilateral relations”, – said Gerashchenko.
