In the country’s defense Ministry announced that the replacement will be in stages.
The Georgian army from may 30 will begin to gradually replace the machine guns of Kalashnikov Soviet-made weapons NATO sample.
As reported in the Ministry of defense of Georgia, the replacement will be made, in particular, to machine guns, M-240, which are in service with the us army.
Demonstration of the capabilities of these weapons will take place at a joint NATO training and assessment center, which is located in Krtsanisi. The event will be attended by the Minister of defence of Georgia Levan Izoria and US Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly.
The defense Ministry also said that the centre was visited by the NATO Deputy Secretary rose Gottemoeller, who visited Georgia in the framework of the meeting in Tbilisi the spring session of the NATO parliamentary Assembly.
As reported, Georgia again accused Russia of encroaching on its sovereignty. Dissatisfaction of the Georgian authorities was connected with the visit of the foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov in the occupied Abkhazia.
