American Forbes visited on a Global Grad Show exhibition Dubai Design Week and found there among the riot of global projects and large-scale five brilliant ideas of items that could simplify life. Simple and clear design students from the leading universities of the world aims to make the house a little more comfortable for people with disabilities. These useful things are created using modern technologies.
Drawer for people suffering from Alzheimer’s
An ordinary kitchen knife can become a deadly weapon for the Alzheimer’s patients. Chest “out of sight”, created by Caitlina by McIver from Pratt Institute, is equipped with protection, which without any locks hiding the sharp objects inside. The top layer of the box can be easily removed, which allows family members and caregivers to have access to facilities that are inside.
Kettle for the blind
The usual kitchenware is created for the sighted and do not have tactile properties, allowing the blind to use this technique in everyday life. Tactile kettle, designed by Caroline Buratto from the State University of Santa Catarina, reduces the risk to burn yourself with boiling water. The outer silicone shell of the kettle keeps the room temperature, to a hot kettle you can touch and feel the handle, and a rounded design “to set the neck of the kettle on the rim of the Cup”.
Blinds — solar panels
Nathan Webb from the Royal College of art was placed on the curtains, the plates convert sun rays into energy. The energy accumulated on the ledge-the bar, equipped with batteries and a USB port for easy access. According to the author the curtains invented for people who can’t afford to install solar panels.
Wall air purifier
Juan van der Horst from the Technical University of Eindhoven, with the assistance of the company Onda has created a textile wall covered with nanocables of copper doped with titanium dioxide which uses sunlight to purify air streams. In order to breathe fresh air, just click on the cloth — this will release UV light that will quickly purify the air.
Separator bath
Whenever it comes to bathing children, parents are forced to gain the whole bathroom for adults and, therefore, consume large amounts of water. Separator bath, created by Claudia Brewster of Northumbria University, divides the bathroom in two, which allows to reduce the cost of water for the bathing of the child. And the separator is integrated toys.
