The underground gas storage facilities filled almost half.
The import of gas to Ukraine from European Union countries over eight months of 2018 has decreased by 26.6% compared to the same period of 2017. This is stated in the report of the branch of the operator of Ukrainian gas transport system Ukrtransgaz, published on Monday, September 10, on the regulator’s website.
In particular, it stated that it happened due to the significant amount of gas in underground storage gas, which was generated by resource Naftogaz of Ukraine and other clients before the start of the withdrawal season.
“In January-August this year, the arrival of natural gas from the EU countries amounted 6.9 billion cubic meters that 2.5 billion cubic meters less than in the same period last year. The greatest volumes of hydrocarbons were imported in the gas transportation corridor from Russia – 4.3 billion cubic meters. m (-39%) and from Hungary – 2.1 billion cubic meters (+40%) and Poland – 0.5 billion cubic meters. m (-38%),” reads the report.
Recall that the volume of gas in underground storage of Ukraine increased up to 14,987 billion cubic meters, according to data from Ukrtransgaz.
According to the plan of the Cabinet for the heating season need to pump 17 billion cubic meters of gas.
For the first half of 2018, Ukraine imported more than 4.1 billion cubic meters of gas from EU by $1.5 billion.
