Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovy commented on the withdrawal of the former head of the Odessa regional state administration, Mikheil Saakashvili, on the citizenship of Ukraine.
According to him, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has taken such a step to remove a political opponent.
“Poroshenko invited Saakashvili to Ukraine at a time when it was very necessary to the country and Peter Alekseevich personally. To revoke the citizenship policy of world reputation, who after two successful terms in office of the President of Georgia took the job of head of state administration in Ukraine, only for the fact that he became the opponent is the pinnacle of political fear,” wrote Garden in Facebook.
He believes that such a decision “will be the humiliation of the status of the President of Ukraine and the institution of citizenship of our state.”
The mayor of Lviv noted that while the decree on depriving Saakashvili of citizenship is not published on the website of the head of state, he remains “the last hope for common sense.”
