Frontline Torick was on the edge of two man-made disasters over the rising surface of methane as a result of flooding nearby mines and possible release to the surface of the liquid toxic substances.
Reported by the Ukrainian side in the Joint center for control and coordination of the ceasefire (SCCC).
It is reported that due to damage of a conduit “Gorlovka-Torex” as a result of one of the attacks in 2017, the city has faced at once two problems: we started to get flooded mine of a name of Artema and “South”, from-for what on the surface started to rise methane, and the local receiving water for only two hours a day.
“On the surface rises the methane gas that enters the basements of residential and industrial buildings, which can lead to explosions and poisoning people. According to the calculations of utility services Terezka daily with conduit stems about 12 thousand cubic meters of water. From almost 35 thousand residents of the city receive water only two hours a day. With increasing temperature, Tureck live under the constant threat of emergence of epidemics of infectious diseases”, – stated in the message.
Another threat of a manmade disaster for Terezka comes from local phenol plant, where at any time from the tank in case of break of a dam in the suburban settlements can leak liquid waste.
“Today, in this artificial reservoir was attended by nearly 33 thousand tons of liquid waste containing phenol, naphthalene, formaldehyde, sulfuric acid, petroleum products and other chemical compounds formed during operation of the enterprise. As a result of the shelling on this high risk incapacitated pipeline, through which were pumping water. For this reason, the liquid level in the tailings pond may soon reach a critical point. Overfilling can lead to the destruction of the dam, and then the poison might rush to the nearest village of Novgorod, and then to get to the river End of the Curve, and then into the Seversky Donets, which is one of the few sources of drinking water for the entire Luhansk and parts of Donetsk region”, – noted in SCCC.

“The leadership of the ORDO continues cynically to ignore the interests of the civilian population on both sides of the demarcation line, showing absolute disinterest in ensuring environmental and human security in the region and in the reconstruction of the civilian infrastructure of Donbass” – said in SCCC.
