Offer students longer to study Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoevsky.
The Ministry of education of Ukraine published the second edition of the best practices to change school curricula for grades 5-9. Discussion of the proposals will run until 4 April.
The final version of the programme will be presented in early may.
All students, their parents and teachers have sent about 1000 observations for 13 subjects, some of them took twice rejected. The most heated debates are going around the programs of the course “history of Ukraine” and foreign literature.
In turn, from the course “World literature” offer to remove the Russian classics, adding world bestsellers. So, the program for fifth graders was added the product of “Charlie and the chocolate factory”, in 7 th grade will read the story “the Wandering castle of howl” Diana Jones, 8th grade, a novel of contemporary Russian writer Marina Aromshtam “When angels rest”, and in the 9th – “to Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee and “451 degrees Fahrenheit” by ray Bradbury.
Removed from novels and stories, Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoevsky, but Chekhov, Gogol, Bulgakov and Heine with Goethe left.
