From March 1, in Ukraine increased alcohol

A bottle of vodka will cost a minimum of UAH 80.

From March 1, in Ukraine increased the price of alcohol. The price increase was planned in the end of last year, when the Verkhovna Rada raised the excise duty on alcohol products.

Thus, the deputies tried to increase revenues to the state budget. However, experts suspect that these decisions may drive the industry into the shadows.

80 hryvnia per bottle as it will now have to pay the Ukrainians, who are ready to skip a glass or two. At the end of last year the Parliament voted for a 20% raise in excise duty on vodka production. Now the cheapest bottle of 0.5 liters will rise by as much as 11 hryvnia.

Its decision the deputies explained the fight for the health of the nation and a desire to fill a leaky Treasury plus half a billion hryvnias in the budget for this year. However, experts optimism is not shared.

Since 2008, the production volume of the product decreased threefold. The problem is that the frantic pace shadow economy develops. And increasing the excise tax will only deepen this problem.

But that’s not all the nuances of the case, because some manufacturers in pursuit of profit are not shy to sell “counterfeit” alcohol, which is much cheaper.
