In Libya, the group “a Battalion of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq” was released after five years captivity of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the most famous of the sons of the former Libyan dictator. As stated by the rebels, he was released on Friday, June 9.
“We decided to release of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi. He’s free now and left the city of Zintan,” – said in a statement the group published in Facebоok on Saturday, June 10.
As the Agency AP, the release of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, obviously, was the result of the Amnesty law, which was passed earlier by the Parliament of Libya.
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was captured by rebels city of Zintan in late 2011, when the government was ousted and later killed by the rebels of his father, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. During the uprising in 2011 in Libya killed two of Qaddafi’s seven sons.
In 2015, the court in Libya sentenced to death Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, but it has not been enforced.
