French tabloid fined for publishing pictures of Topless Kate Middleton

A court in France has ordered the tabloid to pay EUR100 thousand for publishing images of Topless Kate Middleton.

French tabloid “Closer”, according to the court, is obliged to pay 100 thousand euros for publishing photos of Topless Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton in 2012 as compensation for moral damage.

The court also convicted the editor and owner of the publication that they violated the right of the couple to a private life. Thus, each of them will pay a fine of 45 thousand euros.

The protection of the British Royal family demanded “Closer” a payment of 1.5 million euros.

Hearings were held in may in the French city of Nanterre.

On charges of violation of the right to privacy appeared before the court, the staff of the newspaper “Closer” and “Provence” Laurence Piau and mark Obertan responsible for the publication of the photographs, and photographers Cyril Moreau, Valerie Sue and Dominic Jacovides, which, presumably, these pictures were made.

Despite the fact that photographers have denied involvement in the controversial shooting, in the course of proceedings it was established that they were actually near a place of recreation for members of the Royal family of Britain.

Similar charges were brought against the Director General of Italy’s largest publishing house Mondadori Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the French subsidiary of the group, which includes “Closer”, Ernesto Mauri.

Photos of Duchess of Cambridge Kate, taking a walk without the upper part swimsuit, in September 2012, in addition to “Closer” and “Provence”, published by Italian tabloid “Ki”, the Irish newspaper “daily star” and its Swedish and Danish units.

Pictures were taken during the couple vacation at the Chateau of Viscount Linley David Armstrong-Jones, son of the sister of the British Queen Princess Margaret.Go to the Main page
