Dumont expressed its deep concern about the situation with human rights in Crimea.
The Ambassador of France in Ukraine Isabelle Dumont (Dumont Isabelle) expresses deep concern about the sentence “the Crimean court,” Deputy Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chigos, who was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.
“I am deeply concerned about the situation with human rights in Crimea, and especially by the sentence of the Deputy of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz, who was sentenced to 8 years in prison for “organizing and participating in mass riots””, – quotes the statement I. The Ambassador also recalled that France recognizes neither the “Supreme court” of the Crimea, nor the illegal annexation of Crimea and does not recognize the results of elections organized on the Peninsula illegal authorities.
“I want to remind the devotion of France to the territorial integrity of Ukraine and our continuing efforts in this direction”, says I. Dumont.
As reported, on 11 September the so-called Supreme court of Crimea has sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment in a colony Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis A. Chiygoza.
A. Chiygoz was detained January 29, 2015 in the Crimea on suspicion in organization and participation in mass riots on February 26, 2014, in fact – for participating in a rally in support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity in front of the Crimean Parliament, when protesters confronted Pro-Russian activists-including from the party “Russian unity”.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the sentence A. Chigos is the next sentence the Russian Federation, which are internationally recognized by the occupier.
The European Union ban on the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean and the persecution of its leaders regarded as a “serious and unacceptable violation” of their rights.
