Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve announced that France plans to extend the state of emergency until 15 July 2017.
France wants to extend the state of emergency until 15 July 2017 presidential and parliamentary elections in the country. This was stated by Prime-Minister Bernard Cazeneuve.
“The French government offered to continue the state of emergency in the country until 15 July 2017 presidential and parliamentary elections in the spring of next year”, – stated in the message.
The continued state of emergency must be approved by the Parliament, which will discuss the issue on Tuesday. The Senate will consider it Thursday.
A state of emergency in France was introduced six months after a series of attacks in Paris in 2015. Then it was extended several times, as Islamist terrorists have made the country more attacks.
