Scientists said that a small spiral galaxy that was discovered recently, violate the postulates of the Standard model of physics as dark matter in them attracts not only visible, but also interacts with it in a different way.
The findings of scientists was published in the journal MNRAS.
Dark matter – the mysterious substance, which falls approximately 75% of the mass of the Universe. As a rule, in each galaxy of dark matter in 8-10 times more than the visible, and that it holds the stars together. The majority of scholars assumes that dark matter particles, so-called “wimpy”, hardly interacts with visible matter otherwise except through gravity.
Now, researchers have found evidence that this is not entirely true, watching the newly open dwarf galaxies in the vicinity of the milky Way. These galaxies are similar in their form and properties of the milky way, but they are in the tens and even hundreds of times smaller than our Galaxy.
By observing the movement of stars inside and on the outskirts of three dozen “mini-galaxies” revealed a strange phenomenon – it turned out that the form of clumps of dark matter near the star Metropolitan areas coincided with those looked like themselves in the galaxy.
Similar effects exist in larger galaxies, however, such a distribution of dark matter in them, explained earlier astrophysical processes that can be described in terms of current ideas about the Universe. Further observation of small galaxies, according to scientists, will help to understand exactly how broken the Standard model and what the properties of dark matter.
