For Bitcoin you can now buy a citizenship

Vanuatu government officially authorized the adoption of cryptocurrency for the purchase of citizenship.

The government of the Republic of Vanuatu announced plans to accept bitcoins to pay for citizenship of the country.

Thus, Vanuatu became the first country in the world where citizenship can be bought with cryptocurrency.

The cost of the so-called citizenship investment is $200 million, which at current rate is less than 35 bitcoins.

The Vanuatu citizenship gives the right to visa-free travel to 116 countries, including most countries of Europe. According to this indicator, Vanuatu is a 34-th line in the rating of the Passport Index company, Arton Capital, while Russia, for example, is on the 40th position (108 countries). In the first place is Germany and Singapore, passports are allowed entry without visas in 158 countries.
