About the project we mentioned back in 2012 when I studied screenwriting “Black list” on the subject of dark and interesting. In the end, the stars aligned and the script of Benjamin and Floor China got to work. It took the Director of “the River” (2015) Jamie M. Dagg, and in the end, if you believe the esteemed publication Variety, turned out to be one of the best thrillers of 2017.
The picture is called “Sweet Virginia”that we have translated as “Death in Alaska”. Don’t ask me. Better read the synopsis:
Sam, a former champion bull rider, now leading a quiet life in a godforsaken town in Alaska where she keeps a modest roadside Motel. Elwood is a young man, drove to his hotel; between the two men, having, as it turns out, roots and friendships. Elwood, however, did not come just like that, and has a direct relationship to a shocking crime that recently shocked the town.
Starring then starred John Bernthal (“the Walking dead” series “the Punisher”), Christopher Abbott (“It comes by night”) and Imogen Poots (“Filth”).
We have the first trailer of the film – dark and disturbing neo-Noir. Intriguing, in a word. You can take note.
“Death in Alaska” was first shown at the film festival “Tribeca” in April this year. November 17, the film will be released in the North American theater rental and will be on VOD platforms.
