Many of them sound very plausible.

Probably many have ever wondered how long will exist on Earth and threaten humanity the Apocalypse. But this reason, there are many pseudo-scientific theories, but in fact there are at least 15 reasons why people could disappear from the face of the planet in the next several hundred years.

1. Overpopulation

This has already been said more than once. Before the industrial revolution question about how you can support the existence of so many people, was not so urgent as it is today. Of course, Railways, steam engines and mass farm “came to help” at that time, but what’s next — is only a guess.

2. Nuclear Armageddon

Of course, this is only a hypothetical problem… at least, until then while someone does not click on the “red button”. How long will mankind be able to control their impulses — this is a big issue which becomes increasingly relevant as more and more countries get nuclear warheads.

3. Antibiotic resistance

Although scientists in the USA recently managed to develop so-called superiority, people are rapidly approaching the time when all modern antibiotics are useless against evolving microbes. This potentially can return humanity to the time when even a paper cut can kill a person.

4. Gamma-ray bursts

Maybe it’s unlikely, but it is possible that a highly energetic explosion in a distant galaxy (a supernova explosion) can have long-term consequences for our planet. This can happen at any time, so the term a thousand years is not that big.

5. Cyberwarfare

This is directly related to terrorism and the increasing number of “radical groups” on the world stage. If historically informed groups of rogue protesters and had to rely essentially on guerrilla tactics, but today they can harm any part of the world with one click. It may not destroy humanity, but it certainly can cause chaos, enough for the “everything went downhill”.

6. Resource depletion

Although it may not lead directly to the end of humanity, this situation could lead to the end of civilization. And needless to say, than it is fraught.

7. Magnet

8. Drought

It is also worth considering global warming, which every year is aggravated.

9. Fasting

Most people who read this, can’t imagine what hunger is. But at the moment, about 800 million people on the planet are starving. The Earth’s population is constantly growing.

10. Supermen

Given the genetic advances and programming “babies”, now there is the possibility that the government will begin to program their citizens to complete loyalty in advance. It remains to determine at what point these people actually cease to be human.

11. Biological warfare

As genetic engineering becomes more and more advanced, pretty soon it will be possible to very unpleasant things. It’s almost the same as antibiotic resistance, except for the fact that a similar process will be deliberate.

12. Extinction

Above was already mentioned overpopulation, but it is possible and the opposite option. There is evidence that as countries become more developed, people prefer not to have children. For example, in Japan, the government has long been trying to take at least some steps to “force” young people to continue the race. Japan is not alone in the demographic crisis in Europe, the same thing.

13. Aliens

Now many people can advise “correct tin foil hat”. But most scientists agree that the probability of extraterrestrial life is quite high. In addition, it is likely to be more advanced than humanity. It is for this reason many people such as Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk, are against sending messages into space via SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence).

14. Solar storms

Although most solar storms are relatively harmless, it is already known that they can “fry” transformers and adversely affect the grid. What happens if a really big solar storm, we can only guess how much damage it will cause.

15. Mercury

Scientists have noted that there is a one percent probability that the orbit of that planet may be unstable by the gravitational pull of Jupiter. Computer simulations showed four possible results: the ejection of a planet from the Solar system, its collision with the Sun, a collision with Venus or the collision with the Ground.
