FIFA decided to replay the qualifying match due to referee errors

The international football Federation has issued a landmark decision on the qualifying match between South Africa and Senegal.

In November last year the South African team in the qualifying match for the world Cup with the score 2:1 beat Senegal. The score in the match, the hosts opened with a penalty – the main referee of the game Joseph Lenti wrongly appointed 11-metre blow, not seeing that the ball players of the national team of South Africa is hit in the groin protector of Senegal.

The FIFA disciplinary Committee decided that the match deliberately manipulated the result of the match and disqualified for life, Lanti. In
Sports arbitration court in Lausanne upheld the decision.

The match South Africa-Senegal will be replayed in November of this year. After four rounds in group D leadership is shared by teams of Cape Verde and Burkina Faso (6 points), Senegal has five points and a chance to improve their standings after the replay of the match with South Africa.

The last similar episode in the history of football was recorded in 2005, when FIFA decided to replay the play-off match between Uzbekistan and Bahrain. Then the reason for the replay was a technical error, the chief judge of the match, the Japanese, Toshimitsu Yoshida, who erroneously said Uzbekistan’s goal from the penalty spot.
