The legendary Swiss tennis player Roger Federer for the first time since 2012, became the winner of Wimbledon.
On the way to the 11th final on the grass courts of London, Federer did not lose a single set. His opponent in the final Marin Cilic from 11 attempts has reached a decisive match. In personal meetings, Federer was leading 6:1 and the last traning match between the players took place in the 1/4 finals of Wimbledon in 2016 and ended the comeback of the Swiss with the score 0:2.
In the opening match against Cilic was a chance to break away, but in the fourth game, the Croat failed to convert a break point. A few minutes later Federer showed opponents how to use their chances of admission. No chance to save the first set from Cilic was not – Federer on his serve and didn’t lose any points, and in the ninth game and closed the party another break.
The second set Federer started with the jerk 3:0. On the transition Cilic called the medics and I couldn’t hold back the tears. It seemed that the Croat refuses to continue the fight, but he found the courage to continue the match. Federer abstracted from the problems of Cilic and without problems took the second set.
At 0:2 Cilic received medical aid to an injured left foot, and the match helped the Croat to be liberated and to impose Federer struggle. Only on the fourth attempt, Federer made the break and opened the way to a historic victory at his favorite major.
Federer for the eighth time won the Wimbledon and became the most decorated player in the history of the tournament. The Swiss funded your Bank account for 2.5 million euros and earned 2000 ranking points that will allow the veteran Monday to become the third racket of the world.
After today’s triumph Roger Federer improved his record number of victories on the Hats. Now, on account of the Swiss 19-five titles (Australian Open – 5, Roland-Garros – 1, Wimbledon – 8 US Open – 5).
