To this end, he spent more than 30 days in the summer, driving more than 32 thousand kilometers of the United States in pursuit of hurricanes, to finally unite all in one impressive video called “Transient”. It was filmed with high speed camera Phantom Flex4K worth 110 thousand dollars. This camera allowed the photographer to shoot video at 1000 frames per second.
“This is one of the most challenging projects I have ever done in my career. Several times I despaired. Was exhausted, mentally and physically.
“Persecution” of storms with quadcopter is a quite nervous, even when everything is going well,” notes Farrell.
“There were at least 10 days when I came home with nothing after a ten-hour chase 750 km. But it also happened that I would sit at home with a smile from ear to ear, watching the shot footage,” he shared memories of the photographer.
The majority of lightning Farrell filmed in the American state of Arizona. Throughout the project the photographer has got incredible experience and knowledge: for example, he learned how zippers are different from each other.
“I learned that lightning is incredibly fast. Some exciting moments were not included in the movie, because even at 1000 frames per second they lasted only one frame during playback”, — he said.
