Fantastic landscapes of the red planet. Photo

The project “Mars as art.”

Mars, also called the red planet, these photos may surprise you with their not red landscapes. Some pictures look like the amazing beauty of the paintings of the famous artist. See the most beautiful pictures of Mars.

Pictures of Mars are so unusual and beautiful that it is hard to believe that these are not paintings. Probably, the same conclusion was reached by the employees of NASA that created a web page entitled “Mars As Art” or “Mars as art.”

This picture was taken from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Because of the optical illusion of dark spots on the pictures look like trees. This is actually a Martian dune landslides caused by the sublimation of carbon dioxide. (Photo: NASA/JPL-Caltech/University of Arizona).

Aram chaos — eroded remnants of an impact crater, which is almost on the equator of Mars, and covered with a huge quantity of iron oxide or ordinary rust. (Photo: NASA/JPL-Caltech/University of Arizona).

Olympus Mons is an enormous volcanic crater — its height is greater than 30 kilometers. It is the highest point in the Solar system. (Photo: NASA/Seddon/Wikipedia).

The crater near the Northern great plains, where you can see the ice cover. During the Martian winter, the ice is covered with a layer of dry ice — carbon dioxide in solid form which sublimates (turns into gas) in the summer. (Photo: ESA/DLR/Freie Universitat Berlin (G. Neukum)).

It seems that this photo shows the original tattoo, but it really is an intricate and winding pattern, created by… dust. On Mars, as on Earth, the wind often blows away the upper soil layers, exposing deeper. (Photo: ASA/JPL-Caltech/University of Arizona).

Hellas planitia (impact basin Hellas). Visible cracks on the image are from 1 to 10 meters in width. (Photo: NASA/JPL-Caltech/University of Arizona).

And here is the sunset on Mars. The picture was taken using three color filters that create an image similar to the image perceived by the human eye. (Photo: NASA/JPL-Caltech/Texas A&M/Cornell).
